Bath National Qualifying event

Training injuries to Ed Weeden (Nat C U17)and Maddy Perkin (Fig B U17) meant that only 4 of our National Squad competed.

In Fig B Under 17 Victoria Bramble (9th) and Sally Stevens (16th) scored enough marks again to gain another automatic National championships Qualification. Sally competed her new more demanding voluntary. Unfortunately in the synchronised event the pair finished just outside the top 8 as the judges deemed that the pair had done different shaped Barani somersaults in their voluntary. Maddy came along to support the pair but will have to wait until the Cardiff competition before she attempts to join both Victoria and Sally at the National championships. The opportunity to have a team at Fig B U17 for the National championships will be a first for the Club.

On the Sunday Gemma Osborne finished 36th in the 19+ National C Trampoline Competition. In the Fig B over 15 DMT event Gemma competed two excellent passes. Once again she narrowly missed qualification to the National championships with 17th place finish. Gemma will be our only entrant in the Hull competition as she attempts to build on a solid start to her Fig B DMT career and gain that, so far, elusive qualification.

Emma Richardson came 19th in the Nat C U17. Two solid routines meant that she again achieved a qualification score for the National championships. An excellent start to her first national competition season with the first two competitions resulting in top half finishes. Emma coped very well with the fact that, due to the competition running an hour ahead of the published timetable, Emma had to warm up immediately after she arrived at the competition venue.

Finally, sunday afternoon saw Victoria Bramble compete in the Great Britain trial event for the European championships in Russia later this year. Competiting in the Junior Section Victoria (10th overall) rose to the occasion to compete a fantastic Fig B set routine, Her scores of 8.6, 8.3, 8.2, 8.1, 8.0 were fully justified in front of our top international judges. Competing her new difficult voluntary (tariff 9.6) was just a step too far as she could only complete 9 moves. Victoria will be revisiting Bath in two weeks to compete in the 2nd trial as she has been invited to return by GB's National Performance Director.

The weekend was not as successful as the first competition of the season but all our trampoline gymmnasts have their own performance goals to provide challenges as they build towards the National championships in Birminghmam in early July
