Gatwick Flyers

Regional D-G Grading 22nd January
PDF Print E-mail

Another successful day at Gillingham for our D to G competitors. In the U13G Grade G Heidi Harrison (15th) and Anya Matthews (16th) scored enough to move up to grade F. In the same competition (with 67 competitors!) Freya Penistone- Bird came 36th and Sophie Grainger came 59th. All four contributed to a great team effort where we finished 4th out of 17 teams. Only 1.5 marks off of 3rd place. In the U15 Girls Grade G Beth Chalcraft was 9th and she also moves up to grade F. Isabel Salter came 27th.

In the F Grade competitions Emily Chambers-Rolfe won the U13 group and graded up to E. In her first regional competition Alex Roe came 8th narrowly missing the score needed to move to Grade E. James Crowley competed an outstanding voluntary routine in the U19 Boys Group but low scores on his set routine as a result of him having to stop part way through due to shin soreness.

In the U15 Girls E competition Phoebe daniel came 2nd. This was her last competition for us as she is now training with Synergy Sports Academy in East Grinstead. We wish her every success with her new Club. Also on the podium in the U19 Girls was Hannah Milbourn who came 3rd. In the same group Rachel Grimstone came 14th.

In the D grade events none of our competitors graded up nevertheless there were good performances from Emily Mills (5th) and Suzanne Chester (14th) in the U15 Girls as well as Emily Tyson (3rd) and Laura Everton (7th) in the U 19 Girls.

All our competitors eagerly await the next grading on April 1st. With 18 entrants in the I/H qualifying event on February 12th it looks like the next D-G grading event at Gillingham will have a significant increase in numbers of Gatwick Flyers competing.
